2025 Loftness Battle Ax® – S Series 61BS

Information

2025 Loftness Battle Ax® – S Series 61BS

Skid Steer / Compact Track Loader

This is the mulching head that changed it all. Designed for skid steers and compact track loaders with 28-62.9 GPM, the S Series Battle Ax optimizes mulching performance with its unique rotor design and Loftness® exclusive two-stage cutting chamber. This design works better than any other bite-limiting rotor on the market, whether you’re using sharpened knives or carbide teeth. And it’s backed by Loftness’ legendary customer support and large dealer network.

The Best Warranty on the Baddest Head

The Battle Ax comes standard with a 2-year warranty. Simply purchase an S Series, and you’ll be automatically enrolled in a warranty that’s twice as long as most others are willing to offer.

Double Your Performance

Our exclusive two-stage cutting chamber provides the ability to cut material twice, which is why Loftness machines are known to process material more thoroughly than competitive units. Material is first cut against the primary shear bar, which is adjustable, so the clearance can be narrowed or widened depending upon the desired material size and production rate. From there, the partially reduced material passes smoothly to the secondary cutting chamber behind the front bumper, where it’s processed further before being discharged toward the ground.

Better by Design

Unlike competitive horizontal drum mulchers that use hydraulic doors to help reduce material, the Battle Ax is engineered to process material more completely without a door. Its distinguishing body shape and hitch angle allow the Battle Ax to be rolled back to expose the knives when cutting trees. Tilting the head forward while backing up pulls downed material against the shear bar for more efficient cutting, which produces finer particle sizes. A second recutter bar at the discharge reduces material further and directs it to the ground.

Power to Choose

There are two ways to power your S Series. Choose between a reliable high-pressure, fixed-displacement gear motor, or upgrade to our advanced V-Drive variable-displacement piston motor.

A Way to Replace Teeth...That's Not Like Pulling Teeth

It doesn’t get any easier to reverse or replace teeth. All you need to do is remove one hex bolt.

A Well Balanced Design

A specialized staggered/spiral tooth pattern ensures single-tooth contact with the work surface at all times while maintaining optimal rotor balance.

We Don't Give You the Wrap Around

Nobody likes removing vines or other debris that’s wrapped around the rotor bearings. Our specialized anti-wrap rings keep this to a minimum.

Features may include:

Depth Gauges
  • The Battle Ax rotor design uses built-in depth gauges to control cutting depth, like raker teeth on a chainsaw.
Two-Stage Cutting Chamber
  • Two shear bars allow the Battle Ax to produce a finer mulch with fewer passes. The primary shear bar is adjustable for controlling particle sizes.
Convenient Tooth Mounting
  • The cutting teeth are mounted to the rotor with a single bolt. They can be easily reversed, replaced or removed on the jobsite using a common hex socket.
Fixed-Displacement Gear Motor
  • The high-pressure gear motor option is a reliable, cost-effective workhorse. It operates at a constant RPM that provides an optimal balance between speed and torque. This system was designed for skid steers delivering 29-40 GPM at up to 4,300 PSI. (Rated up to 85 hydraulic horsepower.)
